Fountain Pens - Avenue to Penmanship

May 04

A hobby makes our life subtly beautiful.Every hobby after a certain time can turn into a passion & may lead to indulgence. Like many of us I also have a lot of hobbies. But my love for fountain pens  & indulgence with them (along with inks & papers) is something that enriches my life far more than other hobbies like butterflying, birding, photography, different sports, indology & others.

A good part of it was visiting ‘Ink & Pen’ at Pune. It is a niche  for fountain pen enthusiasts & I met wonderful friends who encourage & help each other as family members. The nitty-gritties of fountain pens are discussed so easily that you realize you are in an elite fountain penoholic tribe.

Love for fountain pen Is an avenue to Penmanship. Once | rediscovered the fun of writing with fountain pen, my love for writing exploded again. I could see the wetness of ink on paper & its changing shades as it dries. Sometimes the sheen and shimmer that appears later fascinates me. To write with your beloved pen you need to reads poems, passages & chapters. This is an obsession that enriches you with good reads & stimulates your mind. My penmanship helped me writing again, but this time something that is beyond my academic writing. It reminded me about the interesting books l read in past & helped me to continue reading good books. It helped me regain my habit of writing with hand. In this digital era we are slowly losing this skill of writing that our ancestors developed over thousands of years. Writing with hand helps keeping our focus & maintains the connections of neurons (brain cells). This is an easy way to keep our brain sharp & youthful as our body ages.

The fun of collecting fountain pens, different colors  & shades of ink  and discussing it with our august pen pals is one beautiful facet of my life. I keep eagerly thinking about the heavenly experience of writing with the Fountain pen angels & savour this when I sit to write like today!
